As the 09-10 season comes to a close....

03/17/2010

To celebrate the end of another great year, we reflect on the great times and memories that were created.

“We are each of us angels with only one wing,

and we can only fly by embracing one another.”

– Lucretius

Starting in September, our team took on the theme of angels and an underlying demon. We put the demon to rest early, with a great skate at the Calgary Rosebowl (Jan 17, 2010) where we came home with gold. It was a great way to get the season underway! We later arrived in Leduc at Mountain Regionals previously referred to as Westerns (Jan 29-31, 2010) with the other E.S.S.C. teams for a great weekend of competition. The angel wings lifted us up for two great competition skates, and led us to another gold medal and a berth to the BMO Skate Canada National Synchronized Skating Championships in March. With Provincials so close to Edmonton, and cheering fans in Wainwright (Feb 20, 2010) Edmonton Edge skated to a silver medal. Back to the rink we went, practicing, with Edmonton Edge’s biggest fan, our rink attendant, Cathy. At Nationals in Brampton, ON we had a great weekend of competition, with "Incredi-Bill" driving us to and from the Powerade Centre. After two clean skates we ended the weekend in an impressive 6th place in a competitive field of 13. After watching Nexxice become the Senior Canadian Champions we took in Jersey Boys, and came home to skate at our Friends and Family Show and the last home game for the Edmonton Oil Kings. We now await watching Synchro Worlds from our homes or in Colorado (April 9-10, 2010). Go Canada Go!

Thank you to everyone who made this year so special and a great success. We couldn't do it without you. Have a great summer girls, and hope to see you all on the ice next season to help us combine artistry, athleticism and the excitement of a team sport for an even better season than the last!

“I want to stand as close to the edge as I can without going over.

Out on the edge you see all the kinds of things you can’t see from the center.”

– Kurt Vonnegut Jr.
