COACHES WANTED!!
The Edmonton Synchronized Skating Club (ESSC) is looking for dynamic coaches for the 2010-2011 season and is accepting applications for the position(s) of Synchronized Skating Coach. ESSC is recognized throughout Canada for excellence and outstanding achievements in synchronized skating. We are a well-established, fast growing club, currently home to Elementary, Juvenile, Pre-Novice, and Intermediate Teams, and is affiliated with two adult teams.
If you are enthusiastic, energetic and have the ability to interact well with skaters, coaches and parents, ESSC wants you! Our coaches are responsible for on and off-ice instruction at practices, competitions, ice-shows, etc., as well as coreography. Our season runs from September to March and coaches also provide instruction at our Summer Camp during July and August.
Applicants must be NCCP Level 1 certified (or higher) in skating; previous experience in synchronized skating and choreography would be a definite asset.

Michele Rowein, Head Coach
Michele Rowein has a 19-year association with the Edmonton Synchronized Skating Club (ESSC) as both a skater and a coach. She has been involved in synchronized skating for 23 years, and competed internationally with the ESSC as part of the National team in 1996-97. Michele has been coaching since 1998 with teams successfully competing provincially and nationally. She currently coaches the Edmonton Icicles (Juvenile Festival), Edmonton Ice Excels (Novice Festival), Edmonton Ice Excite (Junior Festival), Edmonton Evolution (Open Festival), and Edmonton Ice Edition (Adult Festival). Michele’s enthusiasm and flair for originality have produced award-winning programs. Michele is a graduate from the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Alberta and works as a Sport Physical Therapist.Nicolette Langhout, Coach
Nicolette Langhout has been involved with the Edmonton Synchronized Skating Club (ESSC) previously as a skater and now as part of our coaching staff for the last 4 years. She has over 18 years of synchronized skating experience at various levels, and with that comes 4 National Championship Titles (3 Competitive and 1 Festival). Nicolette holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Science in Kinesiology, specializing in Sport Psychology. Currently the Skating Administrator at the Royal Glenora Club, she has worked in the field of figure skating for many years as both an administrator and as a coach. This year, she will once again be coaching Ice Dream, our Pre-Juvenile team. Nicolette’s passion for the sport of synchronized skating, her wealth of knowledge and experience, and wonderful sense of humor are an asset to the ESSC.
Georgina Ball, Assistant Coach
Georgina Ball is our newest addition to the ESSC coaching staff.? She started synchronized skating in 2001 and joined ESSC in 2005.? She has 12?years of singles? coaching experience and has previously coached synchro teams at the Juvenile and Masters level.? She is NCCP II Certified in Singles, Synchro?and Dance and CanPowerskate Certified.? She is a 2006 National Silver Medalist in Synchronized Skating.? Georgina graduated from MacEwan College in 2000 with a Rehabilitation Practitioner Diploma and currently works with Canadian Paraplegic Association assisting individuals who have a spinal cord injury and their families. Georgina is the assistant coach for our Juvenile Festival team, the Edmonton Icicles.
